When you start exercising you will hurt. This goes away. But if only one shin or heel or ankle hurts and not both, then see your GP.
You have to work hard. You have to huff and puff and you have to sweat. By all means set achievable goals distance wise but push yourself.
Find an eating plan that is sensible and works for you. This losing weight caper is not a race. For health reasons I’ve had to cut lots of foods from my diet. I was very motivated because I used to be in so much pain. I am disciplined and finding it very easy. This may not be the case for everyone. Find what works. If you feel deprived it will be much harder for you.
Clothing sizes are not regulated. In most labels I have dropped 4 sizes. But I tried on some denim shorts today one size down from my starting point and they are too small. This is not a big deal. Keep positive. Realistically I’ll never fit into Sass & Bide. They are a small make.
Find exercise that is free. Find a friend to do it with. It really helps. Set long term goals. August next year I am going to do Bridge to Brisbane.
Take care of yourself. Ice your aches. Listen to your body. Drink lots of water. In fact I only drink water now. I am looking forward to a Vodka, lime and soda in about four weeks. Of all the alcoholic beverages it has the least calories per standard drink. Just 64!

Tap in to your silly side. As you continue this journey you will feel fantastic. Dance, sing and if you’re like me embarrass your kids.
After walking yesterday my heel is swollen and sore. I’m not happy about it. I decided at 3.30am to not do parkrun. It’s important that I look at my long term goals too. We are traveling next Christmas for at least four weeks. I need to be both fit and injury free. This is the holiday of a lifetime for our kids and it will definitely involve Disneyland and New York. Don’t know yet whether it will be Disneyland, Anaheim or Disneyland, Paris. But we will be fitting in as much sightseeing as possible.
This is just a speed bump in my journey. I just need to get over it and then keep going.
